• Louisiana currently has a mature commodity chemical industry.
• Increases in raw material prices require a change in manufacturing focus to downstream products.
• Louisiana has the unique infrastructure of pipelines and utilities for the chemical industry.
• Many of the existing manufacturers have under-utilized infrastructure.

How will a Megasite look?

Megasite Designation

• Once designation has been made, all benefits and privileges of mega site status shall attach to the host and all other plants located therein.
• The Louisiana Department of Economic Development would promote the co-location of downstream plants.
• The new Megasite occupant would be accorded access to all benefits offered through the Louisiana Department of Economic Development.
• Each Megasite occupant would be encouraged to locate its corporate headquarters in Louisiana.
• The Louisiana Department of Economic Development will create a web site to promote the facilities at the Megasites and list all chemicals and the companies that produce them.
